He managed to escape from German captivity and via Kassel 
in Germany he ended up at Eibergen in the Netherlands.
There he joined the Dutch resistance-movement.

During a fire-fight with a member of the Dutch National Socialist 
Movement (N.S.B.) he was heavily wounded and on the 
19th of February he died.
