On a dark cold winterevening 1944/1945 R. Geerts, who lived 
next to the cemetery, heard noises on the cemetery of 
Merksplas. 
He went to look and saw a small lorry and on the cemetery 
3 Poles digging a grave. They were drunk, but told him to come 
from Breda. 
They intended to come back next day to place a cross on the 
grave but they never appeared again with the sad result that 
this Polish soldier had been buried now as Unknown.
