When the reconnaissance platoon penetrated a small wood, MR 021113, they encountered a detachment of about 40 German cyclist infantry who decided to surrender. At the moment when the platoon stopped firing and both sergeant Fligiel and corporal Matejuk left the tanks to accept the surrender other German soldiers threw hand grenades and opened fire, killing both Polish soldiers.
