Killed during the action "Bodenplatte". In the morning of the 1st Januari
1945 the German "Luftwaffe" carried out a last desperate attack on a 
number of Allied airfields. 
Ppor.pil. Chojnacki W. flew with Spitfire J 281 above the airfield B 61 at 
Gent and met a group German Fighters who attacked the airfield. 
One of them was by him shot down but later on he was 
by attacked by four German fighters. 
He lost the battle. The Spitfire exploded and he was killed. 

On the airfield of Gent five Polish Airmen lost their lives.
