27.4.1945, Heiste near Stapelmoor, Germany
Wawrowicz Władysław has been killed in action in the hamlet Heiste near
Stapelmoor. He was buried in a field grave in front of the school on Map References
715 036. Map 1:100.000 with the title Groningen.
There is arosen a misunderstanding that he should haven been buried in Dutch soil but
the Map is covering a part of the northern Netherlands and a part of northern Germany
as well.
Later on his grave was exhumed and transferred to a temporary Canadian War Cemetery
and reburied in Section I, Row C. Grave 6.
Further this Cemetery was disbanded and the Canadian Graves were transferred to
the Canadian War Cemetery at Holten, the Netherlands.
But there the grave of Wawrowicz Władysław was not found there.
Probably he is still resting in the neighbourhood of Stapelmoor.
