P/O Zbrozek and F/Sgt Koscik proceeded on convoy patrol and 
were airborne at 15.55 hours. 

After about 10 minutes smoke was seen to be coming from the 
engine of Koscik's aircraft Spitfire VB, nr.  P8564, code JH-X. 

He turned back in a effort to return to base, but he was losing height 
and crashed at Marlborough, Devon on 16.10 hours. 

There was an explosion and the aircraft went up in flames, the pilot 
being killed.
